The Moontower Comedy Festival is FINALLY here. The schedule is filled with so many talented and hilarious comedians. If you are overwhelmed, don’t worry. I’ve done my research to help you make your way to the best shows of each night.
By Kimberley Carmona
Tim Minchin, the talented, well-rounded comedian, will be performing at the Paramount at 7:00 p.m. His audience has been growing drastically due to his unique and hilarious take on musical comedy. Minchin has won multiple awards including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Directors’ Award and the Perrier Award for Best Newcomer at the Edinburg Fringe. Start your night with some pain-inducing laughter with a musical show.
At 8:00 p.m. at Speakeasy, a group of nine HILARIOUS well-known comedians will team up to create one of the most eventful shows of the night, She Bang! Comedians Ophira Eisenberg, Kate Berlant, Jena Friedman, Michelle Wolf, Michelle Buteau, Liza Treyger, Avery Moore, Sasheer Zamata and Erica Rhodes will make you feel comfortably uncomfortable with their jokes. This mix of talented female comedians is a powerful force that you don’t want to mess around with. Make sure you have napkins by your side because you might spit out your drink out of laughter.
Even though festival-favorite Marc Maron will be performing at the Paramount, the comedian you want to see is next door. Maria Bamford is THIS close to becoming a comedian that you will have to pay big bucks to see in a bigger theater. The reason why she’s so big is that anything is possible with Bamford. That’s what makes her one of the top comedians to see during the festival. Do yourself a favor by making your way to the Stateside at 9:30 p.m.
To end your night, end up at the Andy Kindler’s Particular Show at the Google Fiber venue. Kindler, who is known as Andy on Everybody Loves Raymond and lends his voice to Bob’s Burgers on occasion, got to choose who would attack us with balls of laughter during this particular show. Joining him is Mike Lawrence, Karen Kilgariff, David O’Doherty, Blaine Capatch and Dana Gould. It will be an night you might never forget.
Check back tomorrow for my festival picks.
