Unofficial Lifehacks: Dealing with Life

This is the fourth post in our staff writer Maxine Forcey’s blog, Unofficial Lifehacks.

Hello Friends, How are y’all?

The title of the blog is ambitious, I know … but don’t get your hopes up for me to give you some real deep answers about the meaning of life. I do, however, wanna talk about simply just dealing with it.

I don’t know about you, but lately my life has been just a mess. Things are tough af and it’s hard to wake up somedays without just wanting to go back to sleep forever. BUT, I’m here to tell you that you don’t have a choice – you have to wake up each day and try. Life is always going to throw you curve balls that you aren’t expecting. The good news is that there is always a blessing in the storm. Whatever you’re going through, I wanna give a few tips I have been using to navigate through life recently.

  1. Look to your family and friends for support.

Remember your teen years when you used to go to the mall and walk 100 feet in front of your parents because you were embarrassed of them? Those were fun times. Now, as young adults, we don’t really know how to handle some of the situations that go along with being real adults. The best people to go to are adults you know and trust, ones with lots of life experience. Or maybe even your friends who are a little bit ahead of you in life. Swallow some pride and get. dat. wisdom.

  1. Make some plans.

I often find myself feeling lost in space with no direction. Figure out what it is that you want out of life; make some short-term and long-term goals. Next, do your best to stick to them, and if your desires change, that’s completely ok. Just do your best to stay on track, even if the track swerves along the way.

  1. Never EVER give up.

People have probably told you this many times. The reality of life is that it’s just freaking difficult. But, anything worth it in life is worth fighting for. If you give up you’re just going to end up being a basic ass person working in a cubicle. I don’t know about you, but that scares me way more than being homeless. Don’t lose sight of your blessings on the journey to your goals either, these are the details that essentially make up your life! Keep on keepin’ on, no matter what.

As always, I wish you guys peace and love. Check out the new Son Lux album, Bones.

Stay fierce,
