Something Wicca this way comes back to television! The CW has ordered an one-hour pilot order of the classic witch drama “Charmed.” The series would be actually be a prequel, and “Jane the Virgin” executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman is attached to the project.
According to Variety, “Urman is penning the project with writing duo Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, who work with her on ‘Jane the Virgin.’ [They] will serve as executive producers, along with Ben Silverman of Propagate Content and Brad Silberling, who will also serve as director.” TVLine also reported that the series would be set in a small-town in New England in 1976 and “feature a new trio of witches — Annie, Tina and (curiously) Paige — none of whom are related by blood.”
“Charmed” ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006 on the WB–now the CW–starring Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, Shannen Doherty, Brian Krause, and Dorian Gregory.
