The long-awaited anime-to-film adaptation of the classic “Death Note” manga and anime is (almost) here! Director Adam Wingard, known for horror films such as “You’re Next,” “The Guest,” and last year’s “Blair Witch,” is back with the Westernized version of “Death Note.” The film will release on Netflix on Aug. 25. So, just two more months!
The story centers on a young man Light Turner (Nat Wolff) who comes across a supernatural notebook called Death Note, which is linked to Ryuk (voiced by Willem Dafoe), the death god. If a person’s name is written in the notebook, they will be killed. Light becomes obsessed with killing those who are unworthy of living.
