ATX Comic Cons Geek TV & Film

Wizard World Austin 2017: Felicia Day on being a mom and working on geek projects

You can’t have a comic con without a geek celebrity. Luckily Wizard World brought in actress, writer, and web series creator Felicia Day for its Austin comic con a few weeks ago! The Queen of Geek needs no introduction–if you’re a true geek, you already know who she is.

But you may not have known this, Austinites… Felicia Day is a proud Longhorn! Hook ’em! She recalls the days of hanging out on the Drag and even came across an old classmate in the very ballroom which this panel took place.

Back in January, Day gave birth to her first child, her daughter Calliope. Since her birth, Day has NOT been able to finish a complete video game. We feel you, girl! Parenting is hard. Day jokes about being a geek mom.

Day talks about wanting to expose her daughter in many interests and hobbies, but fears she may end up being a jock!

A fan from the audience asked Day if there was a genre of entertainment she’d like to pursue more of, as Day has already acted in fantasy dramas such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Supernatural,” as well as web series/comedies such as “The Guild” and “Con Man”… and that’s just a few of the many credits she has!

Day wrapped up her Q&A panel with advice for women interested in entertainment to create their own content.

Felicia Day is also starring as the character Poppy in the upcoming third season of the Syfy fantasy drama, “The Magicians,” which returns on Jan. 10, 2018.
