It was a clear and breezy evening at the SXSW Outdoor Stage presented by MGM Resorts on March 15.The show was open and free to the public and showcased some great acts including Centavrvs, an electronic band hailing from Mexico and headliner Los Lobos taking the stage later that night.

We were there for Colombian DJ Collective, El Freaky that hails from the capital city of Bogotá. El Freaky is one of the most renowned DJ collectives of the southern Global Bass scene that consists of Mike Styles, Camilo Corredor, emcee and VJ Andrés Shaq, and visual artist and brandmaestro Fat Sugar.
Described as Latin Urban/Reggaeton fusion which is reggaeton music that has crossover of another genre. The DJ collective is known to incorporate and highlight music and lyricists from all over Latin America in most of their songs.
After Centavrvs finished performing and the next stage was set, El Freaky began. They didn’t waste time instructing the crowd to put up their hands up in Spanish and English that set the mood for their entire set. One of the highlights of their performance was a tribute to the Texan music legend, Selena Quintanilla (a way to any Texan’s heart). They played remixes of her greatest hits “Amor Prohibido,” “Como La Flor” and more.
Midway through their set, the group performed one of their biggest hits, “Twerk It” which contains all vocals and beats that features Colombian artists Buxxi and Jiggy D. We enjoyed listening to El Freaky and hearing the talents from all around Latin America in this unique style.
