2018 Old Settler’s Music Festival: Day Three Recap

Though the 2018 Old Settler’s Music Festival has come and gone, the spirit of the festival is still alive in our hearts as we continually reminisce on the amazing time we had. Held April 19-22 at their new location and campgrounds in Tilmon, Texas, this year’s festival was one of our favorites.

As mentioned in our day two recap, we’re sharing some of our favorite photos from the festival and are excited to show you some great shots we captured during day three. Keep reading for coverage on The California Honeydrops, JD McPherson, Will Hoge, and Railroad Earth!

The California Honeydrops

One of our “Top Five Must-See” bands! This American blues band features Lech Wierzynski, Ben Malament, Johnny Bones, Lorenzo Loera, and Beau Bradbury. Their New Orleans sounding harmonies and unique instruments (picture a jug, gutbucket bass, and washboard), brought them back to the festival yet another year to create more unforgettable memories.

JD McPherson

Jonathan David (JD) McPherson is blues and rockabilly singer-songwriter with roots from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His retro tunes that tap into the 1950’s rock n’ roll era had us all dancing and feeling like we we hopped back in time, if just for a moment. Supporting band members include Jimmy Sutton, Jason Smay, Ray Jacildo, and Doug Corcoran.

 Will Hoge

Americana country music musician Will Hoge is a Tennessee native who’s made his way to Nashville. Essentially born into music, Will’s music moved us all with his relate-able lyrics and soulful melodies. The full band currently consists of  Will himself, Thom Donovan, Jerry Roe, and Dominic Davis.

Railroad Earth

A band of six from Stillwater, New Jersey, Railroad Earth spans a vast amount of genres including (but not limited to) Americana, bluegrass, folk, rock n’ roll, and Celtic. Featuring Todd Sheaffer, Tim Carbone, John Skehan, Andy Goessling, Carey Harmon, and Andrew Altman, this headlining band brought a joyful jam session to The Original Black’s BBQ stage on day three.

Make sure to read our full recap here! We still have a few more surprises from Old Settler’s coming your way! Stay tuned for exclusive coverage on other artists such as Wade Bowen, I’m With Her, and  Billy Strings, all three of which also performed on day three!
