ATX TV Festival 2017: “Battlestar Galactica” Reunion Recap

The ATX TV Festival took place from June 8 – 11, 2017.
The festivalĀ is a four-day event that celebrates the television medium: looking back at its history, where it is now, and where it is headed. The festival consists of panels, screenings, and events where attendees and leaders in the TV industry talk, watch, and experience television together as one community.

The festival ended on a high note with the “Battlestar Galactica” reunion held on June 10, 2017 at the Paramount Theatre. For die-hard fans of the Syfy drama, this reunion was a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The series ran from 2004 – 2009.

Seven cast members made the reunion including: Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama), Mary McDonnell (President Laura Roslin), Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck), James Callis (Gaius Baltar), Tricia Helfer (Number Six), Grace Park (Boomer/Number Eight) and Michael Trucco (Sam Anders). And rounding out the reunion was executive producer Ronald D. Moore.

Fans will be happy to know that the cast is still a tight-knit group. Cue the awws. Sackoff shared a tidbit, “I live by the airport, so I get the stop-bys.”

The reunion was filled with lots of laughs and touching moments between the cast and audience. There was even a technical glitch when Jamie Bamber (Lee “Apollo” Adama) tried to get patched in via Skype and was inaudible. Olmos tried his best to recover the situation, but it was no use! But the reunion was still a great experience.

One last “So say we all” led by Olmos. It felt like we were back in the Battleship Galactica. It was a great way to end the reunion.
