The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival is back and you won’t want to miss it! We went last year and discovered that we definitely have a love for improv. The festival showcases some of the best in improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy from all over the country and across the globe. The 2017 festival will be held Aug. 29 – Sept. 4. Here are some of the things we loved from last year and are looking forward to again!
When you have to dish out money for parking downtown it’s nice to know that you’ll be getting what you paid for. The Hideout Theater has an upstairs and downstairs venue which lets you choose from a variety of acts all in one place. Having options to attend different locations around Austin is a plus! Whether you’re North, Central or South you won’t have to go out of your way to see some great acts where ever you are. We live North, so being able to attend Coldtowne Theater really helped us get out of the house. We didn’t have to miss great comedy and look forward to it again this year while also branching out to the other venues such as Spider House Ballroom, The New Movement and The Velveeta Room!
The Variety of Acts
Keep Austin Weird, right? Improv can be hit or miss and luckily with the talent like Rufio and Sheshesheshe you won’t be disappointed. We had a blast pushing our comedic boundaries of thinking what we thought we wouldn’t enjoy or hadn’t experienced. Sometimes comedy can be awkward when skits don’t go accordingly to plan, or they can be gold. Luckily at Out of Bounds festival you’ll be finding lots of gold to talk about at the water cooler. 2017 is no exception and with headliners like Nick Rutherford, White Women, Katie Rich, Marcella Arguello, Dave Hill and more you’re sure to find something that makes you LOL. Find the full list of acts here.
No, we’re not talking about Pokémon! OoB has been printing trading cards since 2012. They are available to purchase by performers and the general public and sell out every year so get them early! You can buy a pack for $10 and trade throughout the festival. We can’t wait to get our hands on some again this year! Each card is uniquely designed for each act!
A good ole’ time
We had a blast attending last year’s festival and enjoyed the laughs and new acts we normally wouldn’t have known about. If you’re suffering from post-election blues and the state our country is in, or just need some laughs, you’ll find it at the Out of Bounds Festival! The festival is also perfectly planned to end on Labor Day, so if you have the day off you can go enjoy some comedy!
You can find the full schedule and purchase badges here.
