Self-titled the “Hannah Montana of the rap game,” Mallrat is only 19-years-old but has made strides since joining the electropop scene just four years ago, and I couldn’t wait to see her after hearing she’d be performing at six (yes, you read correctly – SIX) sets here in Austin during SXSW.

This Brisbane artist, Grace Shaw, brings a new funk to the electropop genre with her own twist of hip-hop and rap. Her newest release “UFO” is a prime example of her talent and unique take on songwriting.
Funny enough, I was lucky and just happened to stumble upon a very intimate performance of hers one afternoon at the #TwitterHouse on Rainey, and even got the chance to briefly meet her afterwards (my boyfriend freaked when I told him this, as she’s one of his absolute favorites).
Her youthful, enchanting grooves both refreshed and lifted my spirits after a long SXSW day, and she was just as upbeat and fabulous in person as I imagined she’d be. I mean, com’on – Look at how she rocks that over-sized Office Depot jacket! I totally want to be her friend.
My personal favorite songs of hers include “Better,” “For Real,” and “Uninvited,” but I highly encourage you check out all of her music and make your own judgement call – you won’t be disappointed!
