2018 Tribeca Film Fest: “Time for Ilhan” Clip

The 17th Annual Tribeca Film Festival begins tomorrow, April 18 – April 29. The Festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001 to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan following the attacks on the World Trade Center. Now in its 17th year, the Festival has evolved into a destination for creativity that reimagines the cinematic experience and explores how art can unite communities.

One of the documentary films having its World Premiere is “Time for Ilhan.” The film follows a Ilhan, a young, hijab-wearing mother of three who is taking on two formidable opponents in a highly contested race for a seat in the Minnesota State Legislature. Director Norah Shapiro is a Minneapolis-based filmmaker who left a decade-long career as a public defender to pursue documentary filmmaking, and hasn’t looked back since. Her first feature film “Miss Tibet: Beauty in Exile” (2014) premiered at the 2014 DOC NYC Film Festival.

Here’s an exclusive clip from “Time for Ilhan:”
