House of L Kicks off Austin Art Month at The Sky Lounge

On Thursday, November 8, Austin art lovers gathered at The Sky Lounge of The Catherine Tower to attend the launch of House of L, an “Artsy Pop Up” party that kicked off one of our favorite months of the year, Austin Art Month.

HOUSE OF L is a collective endeavor of former POP Austin (Austin’s Premiere International Art Event) Curator and Founder, Lana Carlson alongside Founder of L Design and Staging and Broker Associate at Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, Leslie Gossett. Lana and Leslie unite their unique knowledge and skills in fine art and luxury real estate to create weekend-long “pop-up” art events in numerous cities all around the United States. Each pop-up is introduced in one of Sotheby’s spectacular properties and features remarkable art from across the globe.

With the beautiful, shimmering Austin skyline as a backdrop, we enjoyed sipping and snacking while viewing enchanting works of art from around the world. Noteworthy artists included Ysabel LeMay, Brandon Mike, Caitlin G McCollom, and local artist and award-winning musician Bob Schneider (Yes, he’s also an artist!). Special guests included LA-based French artist, Ugo Nonis as well as Miami-based French curator Rofaida Zaid. Las Vegas-based artist Mallory Dawn was also in attendance, along with G.Bleikh & E.Serebryakova, Beb Deum, Wiley Ross, Rich Levine, and Aram Amini.

DJ Swaylo cranked out funky tunes for attendees to listen to during his live set performance, while GEM & BOLT Mezcal poured out their delicious mezcal old fashions that we couldn’t get enough of. As if we couldn’t have an even more enjoyable time, small bites and hors d’oeuvre were dished up from Sophia’s, a modern take on a classic Italian-American supper club.
