“Alita:Battle Angel” Experience coming to Austin

Immersive experiences are one becoming my new favorite trend to get hyped for a movie or television show. And now we are getting an experience from the combined creative brain power of Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron. Eek! Be still my movie heart!

I chatted with Rodriguez at the 2018 Austin Film Festival and asked him about the upcoming film, “Alita: Battle Angel.” He did not offer any details, simply replying, “Tt will be out on February 14.” I can understand the secrecy because this film looks massive in scope and now with this newly announced “Passport to Iron City” experience, 20th Century Fox is going all in!

The Passport to Iron City will transport you to the futuristic dystopian world and visionary universe of “Alita: Battle Angel.” The film is directed by Rodriguez and written by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. “Alita: Battle Angel” is based on the graphic novel manga series: “Gunnm” by Yukito Kishiro.

“Passport to Iron City” is a billed as a “first-of-its-kind experience, combining technology built for the retrofuture Alita aesthetic and highly-detailed sets that have been recreated by the film’s award-winning production designers. Sounds cool, right?

You’ll get to live like a local in Iron City. Join your team for exclusive drinks at the Kansas, the famous hunter-warrior watering hole and explore the vibrant streets of Iron City, where you’ll interact the City’s gritty residents and visit familiar landmarks. Earn credits by completing puzzles and challenges, experiment with innovative technology and uncover hidden clues to determine your fate.

The experience will be 12,000 square feet of futuristic interactive playground and we are intrigued! And of course we will be there!

The event will be available in New York, Los Angeles and Austin! Book your Alita Experience early bird tickets here before they go up in price on January 18!

About “Alita: Battle Angel”

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (“Sin City”), comes “Alita: Battle Angel”), an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.

As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.
