A four-time Grammy winner, Jason Isbell is an American singer-songwriter from the heart of Alabama. Joined by the 400 Unit featuring Jimbo Hart (bass, vocals), Sadler Vaden (guitar, vocals), Derry deBorja (keys), Chad Gamble (drums, vocals), and Amanda Shires (fiddle, vocals), Jason Isbell is a leader in the Americana community, a talent that words cannot describe.

A couple fun facts about Isbell: he wrote one of the songs on “A Star Is Born” (remember the song “Maybe It’s Time”?), has a cameo on HBO’s “Deadwood,” and plays alongside his wife Amanda Shires, a member of the 400 unit (adorable, right?!).
Isbell was a major headliner at Old Settler’s Music Festival, one of my favorite festivals and a weekend I always look forward to. In beautiful Tilmon, Texas, the festival was held from April 12-14, a prime spring weekend to enjoy Texas’ wildflowers, sunshine, and breezes. This year, I was able to get the full experience, camping and all. Read all about the magical weekend it was here!

It was a beautiful April evening, the sun setting as Jason Isbell arrived on the Original Black’s BBQ Stage. The crowd had been slowly growing throughout the day, but at that point, it was the biggest I’d ever seen. You could tell that it is was Isbell everybody was anticipating, vibes of excitement rising through the air. Isbell opened up the set with his hit “24 Frames,” and the festival grounds burst with cheers.
Isbell’s chemistry with his wife Shires was just too adorable to handle. You could tell they were in-sync with each and every chord, exchanging smiles and loving eyes. Other crowd pleasers they performed included “Cover Me Up,” “Last of My Kind,” “Alabama Pines,” and “Tupelo.”
