We’ve heard rumors here and there, but Marvel has officially confirmed at Comic Con International: San Diego that Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson will take the role of Captain Marvel in her own solo movie.

She is the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she will also be the first female hero to headline her own Marvel movie. Larson won her first Academy Award earlier this spring for her lead role as the mother in “Room,” starring alongside Jacob Tremblay.
