In Bloom 2018: Mikky Ekko Pulled All Heartstrings

Out of all of the shows at this year’s In Bloom Music Festival, we got to admit that artist Mikky Ekko was one of the biggest pleasant surprises. A Louisiana native and now Nashvillian, Ekko put on a phenomenal show that had the whole crowd falling in love with his charming smile and lyrics that pulled at our heartstrings.

Ekko is well known for being featured in Rihanna‘s single “Stay” which became Ekko’s first charted track and which many may not know, was originally written by him and songwriter Justin Parker. He performed a solo version IN THE CROWD that had nearly everyone singing along and in tears.

Other favorite songs of ours performed included “Pull Me Down” and “Smile,” both of which he sang with such immense passion that it felt he was singing directly to us. In fact, that may be one Mikky Ekko’s best assets: his genuine personability that is often rare to find these days. He even made time afterwards to chat and take pictures with his fans, despite being sweaty and exhausted from having just poured his heart out on stage. Though brief, is was a moment where we got to see even more of how humble and kind soul he is.

Mikky Ekko will be performing again here in Austin, Texas on May 2 at Parish, and we can’t wait to see him again. For more information on his music and tour, visit http://www.mikkyekko.com/.
